Routine Histology
At IntegriT Labs, routine histology is not just a process; it is a commitment to excellence in every detail. Each biopsy we handle is treated with the utmost care, transforming samples into valuable insights that guide patient care.
Tissue Processing & Embedding
This service involves preparing tissue samples by fixing them in 10% neutral buffered formalin, dehydrating them through a series of alcohol solutions, and embedding them in paraffin wax. This step is essential to preserve the cellular architecture of the tissue, making it suitable for sectioning and diagnostic analysis.
Sectioning & Staining
After embedding, tissue samples are sectioned into thin slices (usually 3-5 microns thick) using a microtome. These sections are then placed on slides and stained. A routine Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) stain is used to highlight nuclear and cytoplasmic tissue structures.
Slide Analysis & Pathology Reporting
Once slides are stained, they are analyzed by a Dermatopathologist. This service includes routine histological examination and may call for more advanced diagnostic services, such as Immunohistochemical (IHC) and special staining depending on the complexity of the case.
Meet Thalia
Thalia is a dedicated and experienced Histology Technician with a passion for delivering high-quality patient continuum of care. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Thalia attained her education at Phoenix Community College, where she earned a degree in Applied Science and successfully completed the accredited histology program.
Thalia’s professional journey began with clinical training at the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Hospital, followed by board certification through the American Society of Clinical Pathology. With 16 years of experience in histology, Thalia has had the privilege of working in various settings, including hospitals, reference laboratories and private laboratories both as a permanent and traveling Histology Technician.
Throughout Thalia’s career she developed expertise in handling and processing a wide range of specimens, including anatomical, gastrointestinal and dermatological samples. Her commitment to quality patient continuum of care and efficiency drives her to work wholeheartedly, ensuring accurate and timely results.
What sets Thalia apart is her genuine care for patients and dedication to delivering exceptional service. She is results-driven and is continually striving to improve processes and outcomes.
